Job Description

Summary: The Coordinator, International Admissions develops and executes Wake Forest University's admissions strategies for recruitment, selection, and enrollment of international students. In a highly selective admissions environment, serves as a voting member of the Admissions Committee.


Essential Functions:



+ Annually analyzes qualifications of over 2,000 prospective students with emphasis on international applicants utilizing established admissions standards, guidelines, and criteria. Sits on the admissions committee as a full voting member making subjective evaluations of applicants for admission to the College. Critiques complex admissions essays and evaluates candidates' demonstrated talents, character, and potential contributions to Wake Forest University. May independently contact secondary guidance professionals or recommenders to solicit clarification or additional information concerning applicants. Maintains confidentiality concerning sensitive personal and academic information submitted in the application process by applicants, guidance professionals, or others.


+ Researches and evaluates admissions marketing strategies involving the development of international markets.


+ Travels extensively throughout the United States and abroad. Represents Wake Forest University at college fairs, evening information sessions, and individual high school visits. Collects data, plans, and evaluates travel to specific regions serving as the liaison to secondary schools and students in the region.


+ Assists with yield projects and publications.


+ As a sole presenter, creates and conducts some daily group admissions information sessions for prospective students and parents (over 25,000 visitors per year). Updates and revises the admissions presentation in conjunction with the University's integrated marketing efforts.


+ Conducts admissions interviews, imparting information about the University to prospective students and parents, and evaluating the applicant's suitability for admission to Wake Forest. Counsels families concerning the applicant's course selection, extracurricular pursuits, and chances for admission to Wake Forest University. Also, counsels families on financial aid and scholarship opportunities.


+ Develops and cultivates contacts and relationships with counselors in international markets through travel and correspondence.


+ Organizes and/or participates in effective individual/group travel programs in international markets.


+ Develops evaluation criteria and evaluates effectiveness of various admissions marketing efforts. Recommends budget and personnel requirements for each initiative.



Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:



+ Bachelor's degree.


+ International educational experience.


+ Strong leadership and supervisory skills.


+ Knowledge of Wake Forest University academic and extracurricular programs.


+ Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills both verbally and in writing.


+ Strong interpersonal skills.


+ Knowledge of budget development and fiscal management.


+ Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.


+ Ability to set priorities and work independently.


+ Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including Power Point, Word, and Excel.


+ Ability to foster teamwork and collegiality in a small office and with other departments.


+ Ability to travel extensively, up to 30%.


+ Valid Passport.


+ Should be able to meet requirements of the University's automobile insurance.



Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:



+ Proficiency in one or more foreign languages.



Accountabilities:



+ Responsible for own work.


+ May oversee and coordinate the activities of other admissions staff members and student volunteers while involved in specific marketing projects.
