Description


RNPer Diem neededfor Child Adolescent and Eating Disorders Psychiatry Unit



Child, Adolescent and Eating Disorders Unit is a 28-bed inpatient Unit composed of three different areas 8-bed Child unit; 14-bed Adolescent unit; and 6-bed Eating Disorders unit. Nurses provide assistance with ADLs, monitor and report on the patient's behavioral progress, emotional and physical symptoms, provide medication and discharge teaching. Nursing care includes but is not limited to assessing and monitoring patients for signs and symptoms of withdrawal, medication and discharge education, medication administration, and emotional support during stressful events. Nurses are expected to facilitate and help with groups in the milieu.



Safety is the key component of the care provided as well as introduction of positive coping skills, healthy living and positive leisure activities. This unit has behavior systems in place to reward positive behaviors.



This is a per diem position which requires a commitment to provide availability to work at least 12 hour shift every 2 weeks and at least one summer and one winter holiday. As a per diem employee you do not receive benefits and you are considered an at will employee. The shifts are typically 12 hours and flexibility is needed in scheduling of shifts to meet the needs of the unit.







Qualifications


Requires graduation from a state-accredited school of professional nursing and one year of nursing experience. Must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of North Carolina by the NC Board of Nursing. Current certification in Healthcare Provider BLS/ CPR required.



Experience in psychiatric nursing strongly preferred and additional experience working with eating disorders patients is an asset.
